Society CAN make whatever rules it chooses, and it has always done so. Laws and standards about segregation, slavery, selling liquor, women voting and owning property have been in effect and then changed.

The issue is whether we change them when we perceive an injustice in them.

Does society have this right or not?

I'm not sure that's even a valid question, because society MUST make laws. Where else would laws come from?

God only gave us ten.....the rest are up to us. <gg>

MM, this bit about pedophilia strikes me as one more reason you have a serious problem with gays and lesbians. You are simply looking for reasons to discriminate against them. And, so far, those reasons don't hold up.

Pedophilia is a curse but is certainly not relegated to homosexuals. In fact, there is a great deal more heterosexual pedophilia than homosexual.
