I hope so.

You know, though, I always thought that we would see more common sense on the drug debate when my generation got to Congress, but it hasn't happened. The resistance to medical marijuana has amazed me.
Maybe it has something to do with the kind of people who end up in politics. It must take a certain amount of thinking you know best for everyone.

And yes, that is a headscratcher about not allowing people a legal monogamous commitment, while screaming about the alternate lifestyle and making them feel like freaks.

I think so too.

And unlike the drug penalization industry, which has a huge lobby of folks making money off it, the anti-gay lobby really doesn't have a big monetary base. Preachers can get money screaming about anything- it doesn't have to be gays, but police would have a hard time replacing all the forfeiture money if the drug *wars* went away.
