Thanks for the Gallup Poll link

"For the Gallup Poll Daily tracking survey, Gallup is interviewing no fewer than 1,000 U.S. adults nationwide each day during 2008.

The general-election results are based on combined data from July 24-26, 2008. For results based on this sample of 2,692 registered voters, the maximum margin of sampling error is ±2 percentage points."

Looks like Gallup surveyed 2,692 voters on July 24, 25,26-----not quite the 1,000 they indicate they poll daily.

Polling 1,000 voters per day comes out to 20 people per each of the 50 states. In this reported poll of 2,692----the average polled per day is 897.33 voters-----or 17.94 per state.

Considering this is a National Election I wonder about the validity of a poll that samples only 1,000 people per day.

Any pollsters or pollsters with experience on the board?
