How cool is that?

They certainly do look as though they are enjoying life, don't they?

I've come to a bit of an epiphany in my life, which I'm trying to respond to, somewhat unsuccessfully it appears. I'm too grumpy, don't laugh enough, spend too much time in negatives. I'm trying to change that by changing my attitude. Hence, my lousy attempts at humor.

If there was a prize for the world's worst joke teller, I would win it. I don't think I've really laughed hard since the Limeliters sang "Vikki Dougan." It was a song about a maid with a dress cut sooooo lowwwww in back that it revealed a newwwww cleeeeeeeaaaavage!

Vikki turn your back on me
Come on darlin' just for me
'Cause there is something so appealin',
that your eyes are not revealin'!
Oh, Miss Dougan, you're for me!

Other girls who approach me,
Are beautiful, gorgeous and gay!
But you're so gosh darn more inviting
Going the other way!

I met Glenn Yarbrough himself at a concert in Juneau about 1999. He denied that anybody could be old enough to remember the Limeliters from 1964, although there I was standing right in front of him. I couldn't find a clip of Vikki Dougan, but here's a somber tune that reveals Yarbrough's fine tenor even better. youtube.com
