Now that gas is $3.89 is he going to flop flip?

I would say not. McCain doesn't have a history of flip flopping at all.

Whether gas is at $389 or $400 really doesn't matter -- energy has, as it should, become a major issue -- not only in the campaign, but in the eyes of most Americans -- thanks to the runup in prices. This is how free markets work, and I can think of no better example.

Over the next few years we are going to see the market flooded with alternatively fueled vehicles -- if gas went to $2/gallon, it would still happen. The $4 prices have awakened the public to the problem.
