Just keep paying the electricity bills and the power companies will be happy.

Incidentally, just looking at the power consumption of my twin Athlon 2.3 Ghz machine, two screens one LCD the other the old fashioned CRT, back up stand alone Hard drive and printer, I see I am consuming 143 watts of electricity. The routers consume a further 41 watts. If I leave the machine on continuously, the power cost of running my machine is £14.10p per month.

Power factor is only 78% for some reason, I wonder how I can fix that? It's a single phase supply.

How does that compare?

I am on an energy consumption review. Over 30% of my electricity bill is the PC's and accessories. The gas central heating is still cheap. When the backup multifuel coal and wood system comes online, that should push down costs again.

I intend to be fully independent of power companies at a pinch if and when necessary.
