It is believed the victim was stabbed repeatedly as he slept on the bus and later decapitated. A witness reported seeing someone on the bus holding a human head. The eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway, just west of Portage la Prairie, was closed by police throughout the night as they investigated the incident. A Manitoba RCMP police officer reportedly negotiates with a suspect, seen sitting at the front of the bus. The standoff was continuing early Thursday morning, according to the Winnipeg Free Press, and reports later indicated a man was taken into custody. There was a standoff, during which police negotiated with the suspect as he sat in the driver's seat of the bus. A suspect was taken into custody early Thursday morning, media reports said. Police from Portage la Prairie, Brandon and Traherne RCMP detachments were on the scene along with the RCMP's emergency response team. RCMP Const.
