Dr. Keith Barron was one of the original founders of ARU and is credited as one of the main discoverers of the FDN deposit.

No, I think FDN property is SE corner of Ecuador. I am guessing that there are several miles in dispute, high altitude etc.

I think Keith mentioned something about having problems with border "security".

When he spoke of the ill-defined border, I immediately thought about a possible claims by Peru.

Condor: A few thoughts from memory, not to be construed as exact.

The Border area between Peru and Ecuador was subject to
military hostilities in the past, they did reach some agreement or standstill and that is what allowed exploration to take place again in southern Ecuador. ARU was poised and ready when the time came. The Peruvians are apparently more
touchy than the Ecuadorians and remain vigilant. The main roads etc are all on the Ecuador side with very little or no infrastructure on the Peru side. This seemed confirmed when I had a bit of a look with Google Earth. Not easy or even possible access to the Peru side from Ecuador's roads because of the lingering security concerns in Peru. So any exploration on the Peru side will have awkward and or expensive access issues.

There are also Forest or nature reserves on both sides and those should be located by anyone investing in the area.

Cheers,
Ogi
