I don't think the banks as a whole will crash. A lot of weaker ones will most certainly fail but there is a big safety net under the system which should hold up.

The problems I see are:

1. How much more garbage is there to write off?
2. What are they going to do to return to profitability?

Issue 2 is a particular problem for the Wall Street investment banks.

Why would anyone want to own the banks right now?
