Keith,

The guy analysed financial statements, without really knowing what is behind these changes.

Interest Income / Expense: Capex for SP1 age up a lot of cash and short term assets and increased debt. Without SP1, Balance sheet would no doubt look better, but Spansion would be destined to play second fiddle to someone willing to make such investment.

Drop in marketable securities: Majority of that was most likely holding of Seifun shares. Spansion now owns all of Seifun, and no longer has "marketable securities" of Seifun. It acquired IP, that may prove valuable in the future.

Joe

So what's new, we all know SPSN is a long shot. Reading the analysis was like reading something out of the old "Value Line" books I used ro read in the library before there was an Internet. It's an outsider's analysis completely devoid of any understanding of the ins and outs we're all intimate with from being in bed with this stock.

I would love to see a 30% GM for SPSN, and maybe at some point the will happen, but for now 25% seems to be what management expects in the not too distant future. The important thing is not that ASPs need to rise but that the utilization rate of SP1 needs to approach full capacity. That may seem like pie in the sky talk, but remember SPSN is a relatively small company with a bunch of new products coming soon as well as a reduced cost structure that will be very competitive in the space it lives.

Personally, having made my bet I'm willing to take a look at the draw before I decide to fold.
