I think you are beginning to understand how John and I feel when we try to convince you guys that becoming oil independent is good for this country. It's as obvious to us as the noses on our faces or that the earth is round.

Such projections about what is best for the future are almost never obvious to that extent.

There is a big difference between well established past and present fact, and ideas about the future.

And it isn't just a past/present vs. future thing. Hard specific well know factual details, are not in the same category as plans like the ones you push.

Whether or not you are actually right about the idea of oil independence being a great idea in practice, comparing it to the earth's surface being curved, or even to the claims that I recently made about entitlement spending is absurd, as in the contention that any arguments against such a plan are not just wrong, but are obviously indicative of either bad faith or of ignorance.
