CJ, > When the Republicans had total control, the deficit increased virtually every year. At an unprecedented rate. As soon as the Democrats took control of Congress, that trend started to reverse.

Try again. The deficit started going down after a local maximum in 2004 and kept going down until a local minimum in 2007 of $162B

The deficit is projected to be $396B in 2008 and almost $500B in 2009. Guess what happened in 2007 that led to this? Oh yeah, the Democrats took control of Congress.

P.S. - It should be no surprise why the Democrats have allowed the deficit to increase so much. The tactic of spending like drunken sailors and blaming Bush for the deficit has worked for years.
