>>How much is 50m in practical terms? I live in Colorado. The population of this state is less than 5 million. In Denver there are 23,773 males and 21,761 females in the age group of 20 to 24. There are 28,877 males and 24,071 females in the age group of 25 to 30. It looks like we have about 6,000 extra males here in the 30 and under available group. That trend continues until the 50 and older group where it reverses. 50 million extra young men seems huge.<<

With all due respect, I think that's the wrong way to look at it. Fifty million extra males added to a state with a population of five million would be pretty dramatic.

Fifty million in a worldwide population of over 6 billion is another matter. It's about 0.8 percent.

Are the 6,000 extra males in the 25 to 30 group causing any problems in Colorado?
