Jim, are you alluding to wireless handheld device implementations of Skype? Or desktop? For the former, I'm not aware of any specific performance testing that's been done in that respect. The answer to the latter would appear obvious, given that power is being drawn from the local a.c. wall outlet. Although, in either case, even when you're not actively using Skype, it sometimes imposes CPU performance penalties for some users whose terminals qualify for super-node duty. The application is essentially continually active, in other words. Many a time I've had to kill it in order to continue using my desktop when more than a couple of tabs or windows were open.
