It's nice to see you think the EU might be agreeing that the market works but it's simply silly to think that if Intel charged more, the consumer would pay less. However it is consistent with the criminalization of any dominant producer. If the EU is protecting the competition rather than the consumer then it makes some sense. I wish they'd make up their minds as to what their trying to accomplish.

Hello. Competition. Competitor. Your blinders are on so tight you can't even think past Intel.

Perhaps the EC is under the impression that Intel's abuses of market power impaired or eliminated the availability of less expensive and/or better performing competitors' chips.

You know, like they say in the charges against Intel.

Who says Intel would charge more? Their base prices would actually drop if they were forced to drop their massive loyalty rebates that just target customers who are thinking of throwing some of their business towards AMD. Without these special payoffs, which were billions in the case of DELL, Intel would have to lower prices to everyone else in order to sell all they were producing.

Obviously, Intel thought so also, or they would have sold their production out at lower prices and not needed to target rebates at certain customers.

In other words, Intel's rebates were designed to increase revenue, not reduce it. Either that or they are idiots.

Where does that revenue come from? Suckers who go to "Intel exlusive" shops in Europe is one place.
