Why not? If mandatory tire pressure checks are going to help us save 5-10% on gas consumption, isn't it worth it?

Just like driving 55 MPH? Try doing that on a CA highway where even those in the "slow lane" drive 80 MPH. Don't we need a law making that mandatory?

How about laws punishing car manufacturers for selling gas guzzlers? Hybrid and small car sales are through the roof right now while SUVs are sitting on the lot, but no, you can't trust the free market to do its thing, right?

Name whatever good act American citizens ought to do, and I can name a potential law that can be written to enforce such behavior. Why should forced wealth redistribution be the only law justifyable with the notion that we're a "f----n' society"?
