So, you want to pay more? Intel can arrange that.

How is this any different than ATT demanding that customers have data contracts for $100 per month when everyone else is $50? If you have a better product why not charge what the market will bear?

musosi: in a year cpu prices would probably go up %30-%50 to where they'd have been with amd.

While I can't disagree that without AMD prices won't go up, they are severely limited by the volume that Intel needs to make the most profit; that is volume driven not price driven. That may not be much higher than what those prices are now. They do have 80% of the market, you know...
