The Irish have paraded every year for a century, have they converted anyone to Irishism?

Why the parades for St Patrick's Day?

Are the Irish "recruiting"? Nope. They just want to be proud of who they are. That recruiting thing is really silly. And no, I'm not saying you are silly, I'm saying that idea is silly.

Anyone ever tried to "recruit" you?

I had friends on the Gay and Lesbian Law Review- and guess what? I've never been recruited by a lesbian. I'm kind of sad about it actually. I was bothered by lots of pervy hetero men as a teen, LOTS- but never bothered by a woman.

I don't know anyone who was ever "recruited". I know some men who wandered in to the wrong bars, but they said "Hey, I'm not..."- and that was the end of it.

I think they want to expand their group to gain political power, however.

Recruiting existing gays to gain more political clout is quite different from recruiting ostensibly straight folks into the lifestyle.

The former makes sense, given their shoddy treatment by legislators.

The latter doesn't happen at all.
