We elect our leaders with th expectation that they will listen to the majority sentiment. As long as we all agree that we will embark on a long range alternative energy plan and seek offshore drilling as a short term solution, I am OK. THis is something that we should have adopted during the Carter Administration. With Obama's accepting offshore drilling, the ball is in now in McCain's court to tell people what his stance on development of alternative sources of energy is.

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said on Friday he would back limited offshore drilling as part of a broader energy package that attempted to bring down gas prices and reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

Obama dropped his blanket opposition to any expansion of offshore drilling and signaled support for a bipartisan compromise in Congress aimed at breaking a deadlock on energy that includes limited drilling.
