Obama's goal is to have little or no need for oil companies ASAP.
That would be best.

Had we followed through with energy plans of 30 years ago rather than laugh at the peanut farmer and abandon them, that would be the case.

Farmers are the most frugal of all. Lots of lessons to be learned. They know like no other other what it's like to conserve and save for tough times.

As long as we're doing windfall profits taxes, how about one on farmers, or make them give back the subsidies. Well hell, let's just add an amendment to the constitution outlawing the business cycle. Anyone making money must give their profits to those that are not. The amendment must also require that all citizens change human nature so that they will continue to work knowing they will have to give up all profits.
