Of course allowing more drilling will help us overcome our energy problems. It will also make more jobs for Americans and help our balance of payments too.

The impact of OCS drilling will be minimal. Converting America's public car fleet to nat gas and private cars to hybrids will have a much, much bigger impact.

So you're pushing OCS drilling in order to benefit your oil company....is that what you're saying?

Lots of companies will benefit. Whether mine does or not will depend on who bids highest. The company I work for didn't get any leases in the April GOM leasing round.

But your company hopes to get some of those leases. That means you have a vested interest in seeing OCS drilling happening. In a more honorable world, someone in your position would excuse themselves from the discussion.
