Re Bushes idiocy -- Some hold this "starving of the beast" was done by design -- George Soros, for example, suggests the bankruptcy of the government was planned to eliminate the social programs. Cut taxes. Have a war. Spend the Social Security surplus. Eliminate or curtail the program. It is certainly being curtailed... looking at the benefits vs the real (non government reported) inflation rate.
