"The speaker is on. I've checked the volume icon on the task bar... it's not on mute but, set mid-way. Went into the Control panel and checked the Sound icon. All appears ok?

Could it be the mixer setting? in Vista, when you right click on the speaker icon, it shows "open volume Mixer". Once you click "Open Volume Mixer", all the different source of sound (sound form different window on internet explorer, media manager etc...).. May be one of her source playing the clip is muted...

..sometimes XP insists on using its own Media Player..it's probaly installed but the clip may have been recorded in something else..like RealPlayer,etc..you may have to download (free) that product to hear it..
