That is even LESS a reason to bash Bush. While everyone piled on, the reality is that it wasn't Bush who caused the problem in NOLA. It was the incompetence of Nagin and that god-awful governor -- maybe the most incompetent person ever to hold political office. Even in Louisiana. Even if that were true, and its not, the American people see Bush as the culprit. And that's as it should be. Its ALWAYS understood that the feds are first providers in a disaster. We have gone over this point time after time. Its that way for a good reason........local providers are likely to be knocked out by the disaster and unable to their jobs whereas fed providers are coming from outside the effected region. And it was the federal providers who failed miserably with ice cubes getting send to ID and MD, FEMA trailers sitting in an Arkansas field and a medical ship en route from NC for two weeks. Bush failed miserably and the country was infuriated. The handling of Katrina by the Feds wasn't ideal, but the reality is that Bush was an easy target. He allowed himself to be one by accepting responsibility when it was really a failure of LOCAL, not the federal, government. He was an easy target because the buck stops with him.The federal government blew it by over reacting and becoming flustered, and THAT I blame them for. They cut a deal with Carnival for cruise ships to store people in. They bought 10,000 trailers, most of which still sit at an airport not far from where I live. Stupid. They were throwing money at the problem and I believe Bush bears responsibility for that. They overreacted? Tell that to the people in the Kingdome. You are clueless......absolutely clueless. A figurative Mack truck is heading the way of you and your GOP cohort and you won't have a clue as to why it hit you.
