jrhana,

There are different ways to skin a cat. But clearly we have got to try and improve our diet. This could be more or less along the lines of the article and the role of saturated fats is unknown at this moment. But we know enough to encourage fish oil and nuts and to cut way down on high glycemic carbs and processed foods in general. That at least would be a great beginning IMO.

I wish they did a follow up, testing fats against each other, but I suspect the results (from the POV of glycemic index/load and subsequent complications) would be the same.

Edit: I've pretty much thrown in the towel about wheat. One can indeed live without it.

Well, you are one step ahead of me. I didn't completely eliminate it. But I try to limit it substantially. If it was only up to me, I would give it up completely as well. But my kids are very picky, and they do eat wheat in various meals, so it ends up being harder for me to avoid it.
