Ted, > Discrimination is alive and well in this country. I can't tell you how many times I have heard racial or religious slurs against nearly every ethnicity, religion or color. It even goes on between minorities as well. It seems to be a part of human nature. If this society were homogeneous it might be less of a problem but in a culture as diverse as ours it only creates unnecessary tensions.

Understood, but political correctness does nothing to reduce said tensions. All it does is make topics of race taboo. And stifling free discussion is exactly what we don't need.

If you want to increase tolerance, let's start by not being so offended by words. Did I tell you about the graffiti incident in my neighborhood, where some punk or punks decided to spraypaint tons of racial slurs on people's garage doors and cars?

Now you tell me how "political correctness" could have prevented that incident.
