You forgot to state that it came with a big $ inducement including lots of free reprogramming. Without those, it would have failed.

Given that the Larrabee performance was given with lots of fudging going on (yes it will be able to do that and we will give you enough LBs to render x% faster overall).

But what would happen when 2010 rolls around and one of their competitors does the rendering on a cluster of GPGPUs at 3 times the speed for a third of the money? Larrabee dropped quietly in favor of "Keeping up with the Jones!"

PS, the shown 32 core Larrabee (1 TFlops) is slower than a Radeon 4850 which you can get for $170 today. Who knows how cheap it or a future Radeon that performs the same as the current one will be in early 2010?
