Underinflating by one or two lbs will not have a noticeable effect on fuel economy.

Do me a frigging favor......deflate your tires to 26-28 PSI and drive on them for a week. If you don't see a difference in gas consumption that you are nothing more than a lying idiot.

David, > I drove 400 miles in the last two days. I did not see one vehicle driving on a flat tire.

I've seen a few, but much less often than every 400 miles. It's more of a safety issue than anything else, IMO. Especially that one time I saw a tire of an 18-wheeler on the highway literally blow up into shreds. Yikes.

Anyway, I have no problem with both drilling for more oil and making sure tires are properly inflated. 3-4% here, 3-4% there, and you'll either end up dramatically lowering prices or at least holding them in check. But like I keep saying (which the liberals continue to avoid acknowledging), it doesn't have to be either-or.
