If there had been no drilling bans, we might be producing somewhat more domestic oil than we are now. Might not. You have to admit that it is possible, although unlikely, that we could have discovered several Prudhoe's in the past 25 or so years of the drilling bans. Because you can't know for certain, then you have to assume the most optimistic possibility. Unless, of course, it is something he defines as "liberal", in which case you have to be the most pessimistic...

You're still arguing that we shouldn't increase our supply or decrease the rate of decline with domestic oil. If you're so sure that there is no more oil to be found, then let the oil companies go bankrupt trying to find it. They have the money and they're willing to take on the risk. Now I'll wait while you ask me again where the oil companies should drill. Cause you know, being a liberal weenie means never having the burden of proof. Especially when one claims we're out of oil, period. Tenchusatsu
