The Brazilians should do what the US basketball team did in Barcelona - stay at 4 and 5 star hotels.

That way you get what you want.

They other way is shorten the management's decision cycle -
if we don't get what we want in 24 hours, we are going to the press, or leaving the Olympic village and holding a press conference, or flying in food from Japan and holding a press conference.

This provides an incentive to move the decision up to someone who will say yes.

The Beijing area should have access to every type of food stuff, and the Chinese know how to cook, so what's the problem ?

TJ, is there any kind of food you can't get in HK ?

three points,

(i) when china teams travel away from home, they bring cooks and even ingredients along with them, so as to have 'very extremely fast menu changes'

(ii) the enormous russian delegation in beijing booked an entire hotel, every room, for their multi-millionaires, officials and what not, along with the entire needed kitchen staff

(iii) the top-down decisions are favored when matters of consequence are decided, after investigation, study, focus group discussions, experimentation, and made once for quite sometime, enabling sustained implementation, but allowing for carefully considered mid-course adjustment, etc etc, and works well

so, comment, for the teams that brought no chef, and do not want to eat what has been carefully prepared for all, and does not wish to suffer impromptu mid-course adjustment that may be implemented badly by chefs unfamiliar with off-menu items for dozens or hundred, the teams screwed up, went cheap, are spoiled, and not true sportsmen
