The US economy has a dark road to follow. Along the way much of our stored "wealth" and our buying power on international markets will evaporate. Mish always assumed that our evaporating wealth would increase our buying power -- not a chance in hell. Our buying power is best measured by the value of the dollar. The long term trend is clear -- the combination of our lost wealth along with higher prices for any of us trying to buy goods on international markets using dollars will leave us wondering what happened to the middle class American dream. It is time for a new dream -- it is time to change the way we live -- to innovate -- to use our brains. For those whose wealth is brains there is no limit to the good life that the future holds for us all. But for those who thought that being an American meant being well-off simply because of being an American -- there will be hell to pay.
