Obama's dropping in the polls because he is flailing, I'm feeling better because Obama thinks he has to flail more to recover...

The dam's leaking and the hole will get larger...
:)

Obama needs to be polling the majority of Americans to see what he needs to say, not the Oprah crowd answering the phone when Gallop takes these surveys.

McCain turned populist and supports drilling which is something the average american understands. He or she get their gas at the filling station and until there are filling stations for alternate fuels average joes like me are not comfortable saying goodbye to oil.
OTOH, obama jumps for the populist soak the rich theme on taxes and now on the oil companies.
I think mccain comes out ahead on competing populisms. Only populists who support stupid tax on oil are left wing democrats who support any socialist soak the rich idea that comes up. OTOH, mccain drill for oil resonates with all folks who have cars.

If I understand it correctly, it's a pretty bizarre idea...take 1000 bucks from the 15th largest oil company, and give it to me so I can give it to the 14 larger companies, all foreign nationals, who won't give it back to me.
The mind boggles.

"EXXON Mobil last week posted a $10.9 billion profit for the latest quarter"

Forgetting for just one brief moment the incline or decline rate for Saudi oil, let's look at their current revenue from oil alone. Let's use 9.5 mbd x 135 = 1,282,500,000.00 One Billion, two hundred eighty two million, five hundred thousand and 00/100 dollars a day! And for one year: Over 468 billion - almost 1/2 a trillion, which is the amount our country has gone further into debt on average each year Bush has been president (5.4 in 2000 and currently 9.4 in 08 = 4 trillion divided by 8 yrs = 1/2 a trillion a year).
