It wasn't too long ago that I read a question about whether the temperature controls combined with the A/C wasted gas because the cooled air was being mixed with hot air. The one who asked the question wanted to know whether it was better to manually cycle the A/C on and off or whether the temperature controls already did that with the compressor.

The answer was a little bit of both, so it doesn't really make sense to manually cycle the A/C. But such questions pop up all the time, and for good reason too.

Compressors and aerodynamics are much better these days. Except for maybe a Hummer which must have an awful drag coefficient...

I think Ten's BMW AC system is losing its refrigerant. When my AC is on full blast, it gets too cold in my car and I have to lower it. I have the same model as his.
