gg i have been rapping sporadically over the past two years to BE ON ALERT to potential major changes in policy by China after the Beijing Olympics are over.
The most critical possibility is they cease to be The Welfare Department for the spendthrift U.S. Government.

They have been relentlessly, along with Japan and Arabic OPEC countries buying up Treasuries and GSEs hand over fist.

i am sure U.S. in tough talk behind closed doors have told China if they started to cease supporting our Treasuries we would consider that a HOSTILE action, and that means we Boycott the Olympics.
That has been a gun at China's head for if U.S. had boycotted their Olympics the Big China Entry into the world would have been crippled.
China, is cold blooded ruthless pragmatist(as i oft note, i am opposed to all "The Powers" and with U.S. on the top of that Powers List) figured , better we not chance a boycott of our Olympics.
But after the Olympics they will likely pragmatically analyze if continuing to prop up the U.S. ecocomy comes to a plus for China.
i think they will start seeing it is a negative, and also come to grips that they NEED the money they have been pumping into propping the U.S. to use at home to grapple with an ever more angry majority of the Chinese population that is NOT participating in the improved life style(like 70% of the people of China are non participants)
China has been ignoring their labor and farming class of their own people in order to prop up the U.S. treasuries and U.S. Economy--they have at least well over a trillion dollars in U.S.T-bonds.
If China simply cut their buying by 25%, it hits our bond market significantly.

Let's watch what happens to bonds post Beijing Olympics.

Plus Faber reports China is NOT at all happy with West messing with Iran, not at all.

So why have they kept suporting U.S./EU relentless harassing of Iran???????????????
The Olympics, that is my suspicion.

i attach a post i made to CG last night--it seems quite relevant.Later,Max

i got this quote from Faber via a PM:<< Recently, I watched an interview with Dr. Faber and he said (this is nearly a quote), "let me warn the western powers that if China is not allowed to buy the energy they need, they will take it by force.". Max

Faber has lived in asia for 35 years, he knows the region as well as anyone.

So wait for the Beijing Olympics to get over and then China is likely to shift to backing Iran in their battle against U.S/Israel and Europe's perjudicially, against international law bullying Iran with Sanctions and threats of attack.

If they see Iran is being pushed into closing the Straight of Hormuz in their outrage of being ganged up on by the arrogant, self-righteous and relentless bullying action of the Western Powers.Watch out for China.
This matter remains explosive. Max
