Re: Its no different with Atom. Intel puts out typical TDP, not the worst case TDP that AMD did with Geode.

Let's state Apples to Apples, Pete. You were going around claiming that Geode dissipated less than a watt of power, but AMD claims it's 3.6W of TDP (at 500MHz), and 1.8W of "typical".

But what's typical mean when AMD says it? Intel does not call their TDP "typical". They call it worst case power under commercial applications, and state that it can only be exceeded by synthetic workloads designed to dissipate power.

To any non-biased observer, that seems to suggest that Intel's TDP is fairly conservative. Maybe AMD's is even more conservative. At any rate, it all makes for a poor comparison until you actually measure real systems.

At any rate, the proof is out there if you want to look for it: not a single vendor anywhere believes that Geode would make a good laptop PC. But in the case of Atom, vendors are ordering millions of them and Intel can barely keep up with demand. In light of that, you "analysis" is not worth anyone's time to even read.
