You (The big "you") could persuade me to accept it by agreeing to match what California has done with per capita electricity usage within 5 years, to a 60MPG CAFE standard within 5 years, continuing tax credits for renewable energy and removing the $2000 cap, and a requirement to go 100 % renewable on every federal building and military base within 3 years.
If you electrify Amtrak and pass a national recycling bill, I wouldn't even oppose it on my own county's coast. And, if you give every rural community grant money from Homeland Security to install a renewable energy system for their health care facilities and fire and law enforcement buildings, y'all can see if there is still any natural gas on my property. The original owners hit NG looking for water, and capped the well.

You say you'll accept drilling offshore, but you're going to continue to argue against it. You actually think its a bad thing.

Of course......why do you think there has been a ban on OCS drilling for the past 25 years? Because its a positive contribution to the environment?

If you think its a bad thing, equivalent to invading Iraq in your book, why don't you be honest and say I don't want it and I'm against it? Why are you pretending to accept it?

Because I am willing to compromise in order to get what I want.

Your acceptance of drilling is clearly a pose and not genuine. Why not be honest?

I have been honest. If you read my posts on the subject, you may note that you don't see me jumping up and down yelling "yippee!" because we are going to do OCS drilling.
