Canadian dollar at 1-yr low after weak jobs data
Fri Aug 8, 7:19 AM

LONDON (Reuters) - The Canadian dollar fell to its lowest level against the U.S. dollar in a year on Friday after weak Canadian employment data added further evidence that the country's economy is slowing sharply.

Fifty-five thousand Canadians lost their jobs in July, the most since February 1991, official data showed. See .

The U.S. dollar extended earlier gains to trade as high as C$1.0679 , up 1.3 percent on the day and the highest since August last year.

Now this is pouring salt on the wounds:

Precious Metal stocks downgraded to Neutral from Attractive at Goldman Sachs

I'm amazed there is still this much denial out there despite what's happened w/gold stocks, gold and the Euro. Lot of gold traders still think 850 will hold. Based on very simple TA we've already broken down. How many hedge fund traders do you think are looking to liquidate the massive stops all huddled around the 850 area?

Being cash helps so much in thinking from an unbiased perspective.

Re- The Gold and commodity smackdown-

I still say that this is a Goldman Cabal & Co shakeout- (shakedown) on commodities and gold, so that Bernanke can cut rates when the shit hits the fan with Fannie, Freddie, and housing doesn't recover. I think shit gets worse for the economy and Bernanke will be cutting, not hiking rates.

I guess we'll see if Slider's 'air pocket' get's tested at HUI 280. I think CDE and FCX represented deep value. I guess I'll soon find out if I was right.

Still short USO and UNG- so at least they are paying for my gold and silver reentries.

Hunkered down Ron
