It's gets deep real quick off California unlike the GOM.

A lot of drill platforms are in plain view.

OCS drilling happens far enough out that the curvature of the earth will prevent a person standing on land from seeing the platforms.

I should have known you didn't know what the hell you were talking about. In S Ca, there are platforms that you can see from the shore. They have them camouflaged with fake palm trees so they won't look so bad.
