So I take it you got in trouble with your rifle? I hope not. A lot of my personal safety practices were self-taught, or adapted from reading. Rule #1 -- All guns are always loaded all the time. Rule #2 -- If you have just unloaded your gun or ascertained it is empty you still treat it as though it were loaded. Rule #3 -- Never let the muzzle of a gun pass over a target that you are not willing to destroy.
