Painful? Hell, we would be starving in 6 months!

In any case its not as if imported oil is really going to be cut off, my point is only that it is worth what we pay for it. If your points about "essentially no economy" where true, that would only strengthen my point.

Yes, when the alternative is a total meltdown.... as I said it's worth $1000 a barrel. But that drain resources for other economic activity.
