World Cup is nice to have for Brazilians and it is always kept very privately out of the US culture which is pre-occupied with their boring baseball and violent football games. Oh not to mention, punch-throwing Hockey brawl games and faked Wrestling shows. According to their extreme standard, Olympics is for the African people who out-shine other races. So they hate it. Soccer is geared toward Europeans, so they are ok with it. I am told the Olympics opening ceremony isn't aired in the US.
