I hope and I suspect that Indians will start buying gold soon. Many middle class folks have seen a windfall on their real estate, houses etc and have been struggling to figure out on how to put their money to work. Now that inflation is reported to be in 11 to 12% range they might consider looking into it. Further seasonal gold buying should pick up late September before the festival season.

We'll see. An all-out assault on the bears, but this seems to
be temporary intervention, rather than the end of the bear
market. Gold is a part of it. The more it is driven down
against rising physical demand, the more mining production
will shut down. Eventually there will be a shortage spike
like we've seen in wheat and rice earlier this year. Gold/oil
ratio was close to or at all time lows. Gold stocks were
killed, since those are hedging vehicles for funds long gold.
