Indeed.

Putin's ambitions are very large.

But the real problem in Russia is the lack of a consistent rule of law other than the law of the jungle. In a word, Russia is going backwards in terms of deals being deals with courts which nwill enforce them, as any major oil company that has operations there can tell you.

A big country being operated as a private fiefdom. Just ask BP, ExxonMobil, Royal Dutch Shell....This is ultimately not good for Russia, though it will take a long time for the rot in Putin's cronyism to be felt.
