So they went for something even MORE different from Core 2 than I suggested. Do you still think it has the same microarchitecture as Penryn, mas? :)

as if architecture has anything to do with the marketing number. they named their 8th(9th) architecture "core 2" and 8.5th(9th) "i7". the only interesting thing seems to be they are going after the branding of apple products.

No I said 2.5 was more truthful if they was going to change it ;-). Core 2 is what it should really be as that is what it still is. Nehalem is a Core 2 with an integrated memory controller and hyperthreading, that's it. Yonah (Core 1) was much more different in the actual core.
