"It is obvious that one of the reasons the US production is dropping is because we been prohibited from developing ANWR"

ANWR was unknown 40 years ago.....do you think no one has been drilling for the last 40 years???? Where have you been? ANWR has potential deposits of 4-20 billion barrels....curiously the number gets higher the longer the debate goes on....

" Don't imagine that our production would have gone up but certainly would not have gone down as rapidly."

Bush says ANWR would produce 670,000 barrels a day at peak...we consume 22,000,000 barrels a day... And it would go into the world market which consumes 88,000,000 barrels a day.

"If no one is opposed to drilling why do you appear to be such an anti driller?'

It's only your naivete that says so....We have drilled hundreds of thousands wells in the last 40 years and suddenly all the newly "informed" are jumping up and down to save the country by drilling in ANWR and off CA.... If you like you can tell me why the 67,000,000 acres already leased haven't been drilled.

"As for drilling the shallow waters off California and producing oil within a year, that came from a very knowledgeable person on another thread."

Yeah, I keep hearing about this mystery source..... I posted the estimates from Big Oil and the DOE.... Someone's feeding you a load of crap..use your head. Oil production off Santa Barbara....after the oil spill???

" If nothing else it will create good paying US jobs, we will export less of our US$ to countries that are anti US and thus help with our balance of payments. The more of our $ we keep here the better."

Puhleeze.....welcome to the party. Have you ever seen the domestic production curve for the last 100 years???

What citations would you like to see????? I've posted everything....if you make a convincing case, I may find them for you again....otherwise follow the theads...

Oh, you really shouldn't have asked for citations, lol.

"ANWR oil production is not projected to have a large impact on world oil prices. Relative to the AEO2008 reference case, ANWR oil production is projected to have its largest oil price reduction impacts as follows: a reduction in low-sulfur, light (LSL) crude oil18 prices of $0.41 per barrel"

I think more drilling is fine, but mostly a distraction, one more hit of the crack pipe please!
