I enjoyed seeing all the countries walk into the arena and the incredible torch lighting. A magnificent spectacle.

I also enjoyed noting that aside from China the Iraq and then the USA got the greatest applause/cheers/welcome of all countries. Amazing how the opinion of those who hate America on this board was wrong. The world still loves the USA.

Olympics are all about youth on the globe learning to compete on a playing field rather than on a battle field. The influence isn't flowing in only one direction..Chinese people are also being exposed to capitalist tourists.

While there, Pres Bush took strong steps to highlight the lack of political and religious freedom in communist China.

Those gazillion Chinese sew the apparel that clothes the world--crowds watching the Tour de France last mo were wearing the same clothing styles & colors as those attending the olympics today. Globalization is starting to paint a monotonous picture of the world in some ways.
