Saute both and mix with flour and s & p until coated and brown and add water or milk?

My late wife, sweet English thing she was, was a terrible cook. She finally figured out how to do some good stuff in the crock pot, but she ruined more good pieces of meat than I want to remember. In all the 38 years of our marriage, she never fixed a holiday meal... that was my thing. Agreed, I'd never look to the Brits for GOOD food. Kidney pie? gag..
