haim is one of those who enjoys 1000-years conflicts, and wishes to end it by simply obliterating and then pulverizing all actual and potential strategic and tactical competitors - you know, the carthage peace per rome style, given cb ilaine's claim of relation rome by pizza, athens by salad, and russia by cultural affinity

i am beginning to see what she meant, and she meant haim

There are already US troops there so what is the difference today?

Putin Russia is so embolden after destroying Yukos kicking out Shell and BP after investing billions in exploration(and Russia pocketing the benefits with a cut to Putin's gang) and closing NG supplies to the EU in 2006 at will that no diplomatic moves will help.

The choice is simple - mostly for EU and India and Far East - let Russia do it's thing and pay much more higher energy prices and be subjugated to Russian will - or stand on your principles.

This way he can collect his transit fees and manipulate the energy markets – it is in Russia interest to have high energy and raw material prices they have nothing else the Western world and even China and India need desperately.

Timoshenko is quiet because she needs Russian help to establish a G-PEC (grain producing OPEC) which will in her mind help Ukraine economically

For long I was wondering how barbarians who were inferior to the Roman Army destroyed the Roman Empire even that the conquered population wanted desperately to get rid of the Romans - now I think I start to understand - and A. Soljenitsin expressed it brilliantly

Russia will not dear attacking NATO troops!!! - if you understand Russian mentality they are playing now Russian roulette in Georgia (get killed or win it all) and the one with the guts and will - will succeed.

This was also Georgia thinking as they had no other choice, or to have a slow death or confront the Russians. The Turkish – Greek rivalry dwarfs if compared to Russia new ambitions – I was in those regions and know the mood there.

Putin is betting all on the fact that NATO and the others do not have the guts to do anything – if he wins who knows what will be next Russia supremacy which he dreams of since being a KGB agent in E. Germany – and remember just as Sadam wanted to be the world strongmen so want Iran mullahs and they can not do it without Russia – hoping that Russia will help on the Iran issue is plain naïve – Russia under Putin view of the world must regain the superpower status and bring the US and NATO to it’s knees – that is with what the Putin “Nashi” youth is indoctrinated with.

It is about time to open they eyes and get off the fantasy of a peaceful world it does not work when more than one nation wants to ascend to the superpower status
