Its not only a much smaller country in population, its also much smaller in size, with a higher population density. Transportation is a bit different in small high population density countries than it is in the US.

Even if it wasn't for that, the point is that absent solid evidence that it would scale, there is no reason to think it would. "They did it", to the extent that they actually did, doesn't give us any reason to think that fact is meaningful to us.

Go figure they are doing pretty good

Worse than they likely otherwise would have been. Imposing a great cost, and doing damage, doesn't imply that the country can't recover from it and still do ok.

It wouldn't just be "my guys" whatever you mean by that, but at least strong majority of the country, and perhaps even a vast majority.
