I saw those reports..it's because women have always inspired their children to aspire to excellence where their natural talents lie..it could be academic pursuits, music or sports. Only a tiny percentage of the kids who are talented athletes will actually reach the ultimate goal--but the positive reinforcement by parent(s) helps the child develop a "go for the gold" attitude to life in general. I'm sure Bill Gates parents instilled the same olympic spirit in him to focus on his sphere of interest.
